Scotland’s Young Business Woman of the Year’s Mission to makeover 100 Homes of Families in temporary accommodation this Christmas

When 20 year old entrepreneur Liv Conlon learnt that 80,000 families will wake up in temporary accommodation such as hostels this Christmas, the young founder of ThePropertyStagers felt compelled to do something.

Partnering with the charity Glasgow City Mission and Homefinder UK, a non-profit national mobility scheme who specialise in finding permanent homes for homeless households and social housing applicants, Liv has launched the 100 Home Christmas Makeover.

The mission? To help bring a true festive spirit into the temporary homes of 100 families in London and Glasgow, by providing items donated by homeware brands, including Christmas trees, lights and soft furnishings to uplift their living space.

“I’ve been fortunate to achieve success early on through entrepreneurship, and I spend my days making over homes with my team. So when I learnt of just how many people in the UK will be waking up in homes which are impermanent – buildings like hostels – whilst they wait to be housed, it reinforced just how fortunate so many of us are to have a place to call home.

“I believe strongly that business has a responsibility to contribute to society and give purpose as much meaning as profit. We can all make a difference if we utilise the skills and talents we use in business, for good. It’s a real privilege to be able to help,” says Liv.

Currently operating throughout the UK, ThePropertyStagers and their team of 10 furnish around 300 properties per year in the UK. What makes the business unique, aside from its exemplary reputation in the sector, is that its young founder has grown revenue from £30,000 in year one, to £1 million in the space of 12 months, despite leaving school aged just 16. Liv’s mother and brother joined the business earlier this year.

Ninesh Muthiah, Home Connections & Homefinder UK’s CEO, explains why they were keen to support Liv with this initiative:

“Homefinder UK has helped over 350 homeless families find permanent homes across the UK. However, there are thousands more families with children who will spend this winter in temporary accommodation. Through this initiative we hope to be able to bring some comfort and festive cheer to some of those suffering from the housing crisis.”

Liv is delighted to be supported by Dunelm, Yohan May Interiors, Cat Preston, Jewellery Design, Sienna Interiors and David Phillips who have contributed to the appeal
