Ryanair Joins Instagram & Launches ‘Wingsie’ Competition

Ryanair is extending their social media portfolio and have joined Instagram. The company says they will be offering behind the scenes images of life inside Europe’s biggest carrier, snapshots of the 190 destinations it flies to and the chance for customers to share their favourite Ryanair photos and experiences through the @Ryanair account.

At the time of printing there are just 4 photos on the account at the moment. There are 922 followers however you can expect that number to soar over the upcoming days as Ryanair is running a pretty tasty competition to celebrate landing on Instagram.

Ryanair will be giving away €100 flight vouchers to five lucky winners and all you have to do is perform your best “wingsie” and post it on Instagram tagging @Ryanair and including the hashtags, #wingsie and #Ryanair30. I can hear some of you asking already, ‘What the hell is a wingsie??’ Here, allow Michael to demonstrate.

Instagram is the latest move by Ryanair in social media and although they had a rocky start on Twitter with the Q&A session, #GrillMol, a session where users got to ask Michael O’Leary about the airline, they have managed to get a grip on things and their social media presence has improved.

Their Twitter account now almost has 150,000 followers and they are also present on platforms such as YouTube and LinkedIn. It is all part of their improved customer service approach where they aim to present a more cuddly and friendly appearance of the company. A campaign which has seen a host of improvements to customer service over the past year.
