Coffee! Love it or hate it most of us at the very least need it to get through the day. Whether that’s a double espresso, caffe latte, cappuccino or simple Americano we all have our favourites but do we venture outside of our comfort zone or are we too confused by the entire lingo surrounding the little bean. Well worry no more!

Affogato  (itself a coffee made from a scoop of ice cream topped with a shot of espresso coffee) is a new app for iOS devices designed to simplify the mysteries of coffee and coffee shop lingo. You’ll soon be impressing your colleagues, friends and family with your knowledge of everything coffee.

The app allows you to browse through 30 different types of coffees with full definitions of each. It’ll help you to get to grips with the lingo used by the baristas in making and ordering your tailor made coffee such as “Unleaded” meaning decaf (yuck!). Another handy feature is the description of the various brewing methods and the timings needed to make your perfect cup of Joe with all manner of paraphernalia.

The app is nicely laid out and simple to use and well worth getting for the coffee novice or even expert.

Affogato is available from the iTunes Appstore priced €1.59 or $1.99 but we’ve a couple of licenses to give away.

Leave a comment below or on twitter @Irish_technews about how much you love coffee between now and Sunday 2nd of October and we’ll pick some winners.
