Sessions at this years Dublin Re:publica have started to be announced over the last few weeks on their website. This is the second event to be held by the Re:publica social and digital megalith movement and has attracted a large amount of interest since its inaugural launch last year in Ireland.
The venue this year is the Lighthouse Cinema to allow room for the larger audience anticipated at this event.
With talks ranging from Cyborgs, Activism and even the power of Hate Speech it is going to bring a wide array of subject matter to the crowd who are looking for a challenge on the day.
To find out more about the confirmed speakers so far, visit the page here.
The areas currently represented are Media and Journalism, Arts and Culture, Research and Education and Politics and Society.
Join them in Dublin for #rpDUB from 7 to 8 September, with #rpTHE taking place in Thessaloniki from 11 to 13 September. And two of you now have the chance to win a €250 travel voucher for the #rpDUB or #rpTHE, including a re:publica ticket and a limited edition duffle bag. Show re:publica what item(s) you’ll be packing for the trip that will help connect Europe. Post your pic on Twitter with the #rpEUROPE hashtag (and the hashtag of your preferred city, meaning #rpTHE or #rpDUB) or just DM them your pic. They will be drawing the winner on 10 August 2017. Find out more here.
Not got anything exciting planned for September? How about re:publica? If you hurry you can still pick up a ticket at the Early Bird price – sales runs until 7 August 2017, 11:55 p.m (CET). This way for tickets to #rpDUB & #rpTHE!
Starting with an article by Nathan Schneider in the Guardian, #BuyTwitter went from a hashtag, to a diverse gathering of online activists congregating on digital platforms like Loomio and Slack, to a provocative motion at a Twitter AGM – proposing that the C-Suite explore proposals for selling the social network to its users!
Join the re:publica team on the day to learn about the importance that having activists organising on the ground in San Francisco made to channelling the efforts of the multitude of activists online. And let us explore together how activists based in Dublin, as home to many of the dominant digital platforms, could play a critical role in advancing the next #BuyTwitter movement.
