One of my favourite pastimes is eating out in restaurants and earlier this year I started a restaurant review blog The Fussy Eater. At the moment I am not able to do reviews for my blog, because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Its worse for the bars and restaurants that I visited or intended to visit and thankfully the Irish tech company, Recroot has come to their rescue.
Recroot, the video based hiring platform team became aware of the devastating effects that COVID-19 is having on the hospitality industry and the 100+ stores using Recroot in Dublin. This inspired them to launch ‘Vouch For’ a non-profit platform where independent cafés, bars and restaurants can sell vouchers to be redeemed in store when they reopen. The drive in Irish media for consumers to purchase vouchers for their local cafés, bars and restaurants was admirable and reminded the nation of our commitment to our communities.
‘Vouch for’ helps independent cafés, bars and restaurants who do not have the ability to sell vouchers online, and in most cases, don’t have an online presence. Independents who already sell vouchers online can still be listed on the website.
Commenting on the project Nev Flynn Co-Founder of ‘Vouch For’ says “There is a huge generosity of spirit and sense of community right now in Ireland, and we want to do our part to help our community cafés, bars and restaurants through this crisis. We are calling for businesses to sign up, and for customers to support during these times.”
It is well known that margins in hospitality are tight, so Vouch For has teamed up with Stripe, to offer completely commission free transactions and to help these independents with cash flow issues, and to stay afloat while the crisis continues.
Vouch For is looking to help independents nationwide, and are urging them to sign up at vouchfor.ie.
