OpenExpo presents a webinar with the ‘hacker’ minister of Taiwan, 28 April

As an exclusive preview event to  OpenExpo 2017, Audrey Tang, the world’s first digital minister, will visit Europe virtually.

The Taiwanese digital minister will give a presentation about the use of Sandstorm.io by the government on 28 April. Sandstorm is a self-hosted, open source web productivity suite, built upon Linux containers with a capabilities-based security model which mitigates most security issues by default. The webinar will also discuss the story of PDIS.tw’s role in its development and deployment.

The webinar, endorsed by OpenExpo, will take place on 28 April from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (UTC +2 hour). Attendees need to register at the following page: http://bit.ly/2oYtC4Y.

This online session also coincides with the launch of an e-book on Open Source and Free Software Trends produced by OpenExpo. More than 40 industry professionals have contributed their views on the trends of the ecosystem to the publication. The book also includes their predictions on the future of open and free technologies. OpenExpo 2017, the annual trade show and conference on open source and free software and the open World economy, will take place in Madrid on 1 June. The aim of OpenExpo is to share, present, discover and evaluate solutions and industry trends offered by the Open Source and Free Software and Open World Economy (Open Data and Open Innovation).

In 2017, the B2B event will focus mainly on the new challenges of open source and digital transformation. Discussions will cover how open source technology can help modernize different areas in companies and show the way to the digital transformation of business. Visitors will be able to learn how open source promotes innovation and agility in a company which can boost its global transformation and its technological processes.

OpenExpo is giving industry professionals the opportunity to participate in the Congress. The expo has launched an international call for papers aimed at those professionals in the sector who do not speak Spanish and who want to share their vision of open technologies.

As one of the largest European events on open source technologies, OpenExpo is looking for papers that explain how open source and free software help companies. Companies such as Microsoft, Arsys and OVH have been confirmed as participants in the fair. Over 3,000 professionals, business and companies seeking networking and business opportunities, are expected to attend.
