OpenAI announces new EU HQ and 250 additional jobs in Ireland

OpenAI has announced that it has leased the iconic Tropical Fruit Warehouse, becoming the new home of its EU headquarters in Dublin. The company will also create 250 new roles over the next two years, to meet rapidly growing demand from users, customers and developers across the European region. This further investment by OpenAI was welcomed by An Taoiseach and IDA Ireland.

OpenAI’s new EU HQ in Dublin’s Docklands, spanning 88,000 sq. ft., will support a growing workforce, foster collaboration with customers and developers and showcase its technology. With over 100 employees here currently, over the next two years OpenAI will add 250 new roles across GTM (go to market / sales), engineering, user operations, human resources, finance, privacy, legal, corpsec and workplace. The company will relocate to IPUT Real Estate’s Tropical Fruit Warehouse in late 2026.

Since OpenAI first announced that it would locate its EU HQ in Ireland in 2023, the number of ChatGPT users has grown to over 1 million locally. Irish businesses ranging from heritage retailer Lenehans Hardware to global AI orchestration platform Tines use OpenAI technology, whether it’s to code, develop new products, grow revenue or enhance customer service.

Today’s further investment will also ensure the company can build on its ‘OpenAI for Ireland’ programme, focused on helping young builders, start-ups and SMEs gain skills and experience in AI.
