Nominations for Irish Red Cross Humanitarian Awards Open NOW!

Several Irish business leaders were today announced as judges for the Irish Red Cross Humanitarian Awards.

The awards ceremony will take place at the Irish Red Cross Ball which is being compered by television presenter Lisa Cannon on Saturday 24 November.

Julie Sinnamon, CEO of Enterprise Ireland is joined on the judging panel by Mary Rose Burke, CEO of Dublin Chamber, Dr Niall Holohan, Chamber of the Arab Irish Chamber of Commerce, Peter O’Halloran, Brigadier General with the Irish Defence Forces, Liam O’Brien, Director of Strategy & External Affairs Vodafone, Derry Gray, Partner in BDO and Professor Hannah McGee, Dean & Chief Academic Officer at RCSI.

The Humanitarian of the Year Award is a major honour bestowed by the Irish Red Cross and will be the most hotly contested on the night. The Society will also bestow a very special honour on the Irish Defence Forces in recognition of the extraordinary humanitarian work of the men and women serving as peacekeepers overseas, with 2018 marking the 60^th anniversary of Ireland’s first peacekeeping deployment in 1958.

The remaining awards categories are the Journalism Excellence Award, Corporate Impact Award, Innovation for Change Award and Student Humanitarian Award. The Journalism Excellence Award recognises outstanding contribution to humanitarian storytelling in the media. The nominee should have published or broadcast their work over the last 24 months through a recognised media channel.

Entrants for the awards may be self-nominated or nominated by others.
