Next generation of digital innovators to showcase their work at Coolest Projects 2018

A face-recognition security system for older people; an adventure game to teach farm safety; an experiment to determine if the working environment in space is comfortable to live in; and a health tech app that helps people with special needs to communicate easily with family and friends are just four of the 700 projects being showcased at the seventh annual Coolest Projects International 2018.

Organised by the CoderDojo Foundation, Coolest Projects will take place on Saturday, 26th May from 10am to 5pm at RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin 4. The event showcases the work of over 1,000 young people from Ireland and 14 other countries including Japan, Argentina and France who have had an idea and made it a reality using the skills they have learnt at their local CoderDojo, Code Club, or Raspberry Jam.

Visitors and Schedule
Visitors are welcome at this family friendly event which promises hands-on activities for young and old including a STEM escape rooms, flying drones, VR headset testing, creating wearable technology pieces and a giant circuit board puzzle as well as demonstrations, workshops and panel discussions.

Co-creator of the Raspberry Pi computer, Pete Lomas, will be the keynote speaker, and will share how he went from school misfit to joint recipient of the UK’s most prestigious prize for engineering innovation, the MacRobert Award at the Main stage in RDS Simmonscourt at 12.45pm.

The event is particularly suited to children aged 7+ and entry is free for young people under 18. Adult tickets are €15 at the door or €11.15 online at www.coolestprojects.org.
