When and where is it on?

November 4th is the New York Sports Betting Investor Summit, and that is immediately followed by sister event Sports Betting USA on the 5th and 6th.

How many years has it been going?

The Investor Summit was a small, closed door, forum in 2015 & 2016and now its time to go big. Sports Betting USA has been going for 3 years.

What was the inspiration to start it?

Sports Betting USA was started in response to the repeal of legislation that forbids states from licensing sports books, and the investor summit is now happening because of the overwhelming response the industry is getting from the finance sector. Hedge funds, asset managers, Private Equity forms and analysts are all aware of the opportunity the sector brings with it as it legalises across America for the first time.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Morgan Stanley will be hosting the Investor Summit, and they have helped us create an agenda that is focused on what the New York investment community wants to hear from the sports betting community. The big casino operators, legislators, regulators and industry leaders will all be there hosting panels throughout the day. More importantly, there are over 50 institutional investors already in the sector, and fifty more that are either private or want to start investing in the sector. This ben will bring together capital with the firms that will responsibly roll out sports betting in the United States.

Sports Betting USA has the most solid sports betting agenda we have ever put together. Again, the major casinos are speaking, and they are joined with every sports league, major media outlets like Fox, ESPN, CBS Sports, Bloomberg, Warner Media and others. This will be the seminal event of the year in sports betting in terms of both information, and in terms of access to deal creation.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

The networking opportunities with the investment community and the operators and suppliers will result in an influx of new investment throughout the value chain of Sports Betting which will help the roll-out of betting across the states that legislate it. This is great news ultimately for the players and for the regulators who can take control of this activity, which is currently supplied largely by the black market. Bringing major, licensed and regulated casino firms into their states will not just result in tax revenue for the state, but a safer environment for its citizens.

At Sports Betting USA, you will have an environment that sees finance and media (the denizens of New York City) Meeting the sports book operators and suppliers to forge new deals, and perhaps precipitate more partnerships as we have seen with Stars group, Fox Sports and now with Flutter (Paddy Power & Betfair.). If you are in the sports betting industry, and you have ambitions in the USA, then you will be in this room.

Who will be speaking?

State Senators (Addabbo, NYC, Lesniak NJ), State representatives (Tim Lang, NH and Assemblyman Prelaw, NY) , regulators, operators, suppliers, stadia owners, casino groups, major league team owners and leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, MLS, PGA and Nascar. There has been no other show that has hosted every major league in the United States. This is a major coup for the industry, and will finally get the dialogue between the leagues and the operators to take place under one room, across the two days of conferencing.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Network. The room is filled with people that make a difference in this industry. It is a very high-powered, high-profile lineup, not just of speakers, but of attendees. The Investor Summit will have an equal ration of investors and operators/suppliers, and we have been selective in suggesting that CFO, IRO, CEO and owner/operator roles are the attendees this is designed for from the operator/supplier side.

On the finance side, its leisure and media analysts from the biggest firms in the sector. At Sports Betting USA, you will be as likely to bump into the senior management from a major casino group as you will a major executive from a media network. But the content is also a major draw, and the agenda has been designed to appeal to a targeted audience of C-suite attendees.
