The National Lottery has become one of the first lotteries in Europe to launch a voice assistant application allowing players to check their numbers on Lotto, EuroMillions and Daily Million draws.
The “Lottery Now” voice assistant, which was launched today, is available to Google Home and Amazon Alexa users, and will allow them check their lottery numbers by voice.
Working together with the marketing communications agency, Core, the National Lottery has become the first lottery in Ireland and the UK to develop this exciting new technology.
‘Lottery Now’ will allow users to check numbers on National Lottery draw-based games, and to check if jackpots have been won. The service will also give National Lottery players information about when the next draws will take place.
Speaking on the launch of ‘Lottery Now’, Dermot Griffin, CEO of the National Lottery said: “At the National Lottery we put our players at the centre of everything we do and in this fast moving tech world it is important we keep up with new innovations and technologies. In developing the ‘Lottery Now’ voice assistant we have made it easier for our players to check their numbers. We are proud to be one of the first lotteries in Europe to launch this capability for our players.”
Using the ‘Lottery Now’ technology could not be easier. All you need to do is speak to your Google Home or Amazon Echo ‘Alexa’ devices and the technology will respond to commands such as “What’s tonight’s Lotto jackpot?” or “What were last night’s EuroMillions numbers?” and “When is the next Daily Million draw?”.
Dermot Griffin explains: “It is estimated that approximately 20% of web searches will done by voice by the year 2020 so this is clearly a fast-growing technology. The ‘Lottery Now’ voice assistant is essentially another new and innovative method for our players to check their numbers and of course it is a novel way to discover that you are a millionaire!”
‘Lottery Now’ is now available as a skill on Amazon and Google Home devices.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games go back to Good Causes all over Ireland. Last year alone more than €226 million was raised by the National Lottery and its players for Good Causes all over Ireland.
