Mollie enables Tap to Pay on iPhone for businesses in Ireland

Mollie has enabled Tap to Pay on iPhone for its Irish customers. This allows businesses of all sizes to use the Mollie app on iPhone to accept contactless payments without the need to purchase or manage additional hardware. Tap to Pay on iPhone – launched last month for Mollie’s 250,000 customers in the Netherlands, France and Germany – is now available to Irish merchants, allowing them to unlock the benefits of Tap to Pay on iPhone instantly through the Mollie app.

Tap to Pay on iPhone allows merchants of all sizes to accept all forms of contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the Mollie app — no additional hardware or payment terminal needed.

In line with Mollie’s mission to make money management effortless for every business in Europe, this exciting development further empowers Mollie’s customers with a fast, convenient and secure way to accept payments right in the palm of their hand. This addition adds yet another benefit to businesses who use the Mollie app on a daily basis – where they are able to run their businesses from anywhere – tracking payments and refunds, accessing funding and managing accounting.

With Tap to Pay on iPhone at checkout, the merchant will simply prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment near the merchant’s iPhone, and the payment will be securely completed using NFC technology. Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options.

Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the business and customer data private and secure. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.

Key features for Mollie’s customers using Tap to Pay on iPhone:

—  Seamless Activation: Instantly available within the Mollie app at the tap of a button using an iPhone XS or later, running the latest version of iOS.

—  No additional hardware required: There’s no need to buy, set up, or manage dedicated card readers

—  Contactless Convenience: Accepts in-person, contactless payments right on an iPhone – from physical debit and credit cards to Apple Pay and other digital wallets

—  Enhanced Security: Built with advanced security measures, ensuring that all transactions are safe and secure.

Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie, on the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone: “Tap to Pay on iPhone represents a significant step forward in simplifying and securing the payment process for merchants and consumers alike. Merchants can now offer a seamless, fast and contactless experience with just an iPhone that their customers can trust. We are proud to support businesses of all sizes with an innovation that combines state-of-the-art security with the convenience that today’s customers expect.”
