Mend host Ireland’s first physical NFT exhibition

Cultural Placemaking Collective mend has partnered with Artist Collective SUBSET and Multidisciplinary Artist eoin to curate and host Ireland’s first physical NFT exhibition.

The show, Comhartha (Token as Gaeilge) will take place in the raw industrial setting of the mend warehouse. The exhibition coincided with the launch of Ireland’s first NFT Gallery on Friday 01/10/2021.

Upon arrival, visitors were greeted with an educational reception to provide background and context on the digital art marketplace and movement. Information was displayed in respect of cryptocurrencies, blockchain technologies and the tokenization of art.

This was a landmark juncture in the history of the Irish Arts and a watershed moment that will motivate and inspire an entirely new generation of Artists, Collectors and hobbyists. There was a combination of digitally native artworks, projection, VR and sonic installation from this incredible list of artists:

At a time when the definition and boundaries of creating original works are being pushed, bent and broken – Comhartha provided a unique platform for Irish Artists to combine cutting edge technology with unchartered arts & culture.

They hope this will be the catalyst for increased engagement with the digital sphere as the tokenisation mechanism, although in its relative infancy, provides unparalleled independence and opportunity for both emerging and established artists.

The exhibition will run for the month of October and will be followed by a roster of further exciting events. We look forward to seeing you all at what will surely be a night to remember.

If you would like to attend the exhibition, find out more about the gallery or discuss exhibiting your work – please email art@mending.ie, or follow @mend.hx for updates and further information.
