Make the internet safe for your kids with Virgin Media Parental Controls

Virgin media is supporting Safer Internet Day by offering to all Virgin broadband customers, the controls that will allow parents to restrict access to websites containing age inappropriate content at the click of a button. Once activated, access is restricted across all devices connected to the Virgin network at home.

Virgin Media and the National Parent’s Council (NPC) are also supporting  parents worried about Internet safety through training programmes in primary schools across the country.

Aine Lynch CEO of the NPC said: “The National Parents Council and Virgin Media want to help parents to be more assured and more involved in their children’s online lives. The Internet is a fabulous resource and it’s undeniably a part of everyday life for the future. Parents need information and support in their parenting role and we want to give them the confidence and skills to support their children as they enjoy using the Internet. We’re looking forward to delivering more Internet Safety Training workshops to schools around the country during 2017. “

This year’s Safer Internet Day topic is ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’.  The 14^th annual Safer Internet Day is celebrated by many online and offline events across 100 countries worldwide, to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology amongst children and young people.

Anna-Maria of Virgin Media  said: “Virgin Media recognises the importance of Safer Internet Day and this year we are highlighting our ‘One Click Parent Controls’.  This service is designed to help parents protect their children from age inappropriate content on the web and is free to all Virgin Media broadband customers.  In addition, we know that parents want to learn how to protect their kids online so the National Parents Council Safety Talks are another fantastic avenue for parents to safe guard their families online and helps to create a better internet together.”
