By  @SimonCocking we interviewed Vladislav Dramaliev who will be speaking at Chainges, the first world-class quality blockchain & cryptocurrency conference shaped by the community. 4-5 May 2018, Kromhouthal, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The current state of blockchain tech is discussed by Vladislav Dramaliev, Marketing Manager at Aeternity

Vladislav Dramaliev is one of the founders of the Bulgarian Bitcoin/blockchain community. He is managing the marketing and community-expansion efforts of the æternity, a next generation blockchain platform for decentralized applications. At Chainges he will focus on the current state of blockchain tech and decentralized applications with a view on what they believe is the right path forward in terms of technology, mobile-friendliness and UI/UX excellence.

Tell us about what you are doing now?

Currently, we are building æternity – a decentralized, open-source æpps platform, which scales through state channels that run smart contracts off-chain. It introduces a new language that supports formal verification and allows users to write simpler, safer code. Our VM will accommodate compiled Solidity contracts, allowing Ethereum-centric developers to create æpps for æternity. We are implementing an ASIC-resistant, memory-bound Proof-of-Work with less than 15 seconds block time. Æternity also features an integrated naming system and oracles, which could be used to request and access data from various data providers. Perhaps most importantly, all æternity components are native features of the blockchain system. They are not meta layers on top of a blockchain (like Lightning, Raiden, Oraclize, etc.), but parts of the core protocol. This ensures unmatched efficiency and significantly reduces the cost of running smart contracts and making lightning fast transactions.

How was the last year, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

Last year was great! We faced and overcame many challenges which is a testament to our vision and our team. Despite being slowed down by some healthy restructures, the team improved efficiency and vitality. We also managed to inspire world-class developers to join the æternity family and we are thrilled to have development of the public blockchain system move forward in full speed.

What are your plans for the future?

Our primary objective is to launch our mainnet this year and to encourage developers on a global scale to begin using it for the creation of mobile-friendly applications. We plan to launch an incubator which will provide interested developers with the knowledge and administrative support required to build commercially-successful applications on top of æternity. We are working tirelessly to ensure our smart contracts are the most secure and efficient ones within the blockchain space.

What will you be talking about at this event?

I will focus on the current state of blockchain tech and decentralized applications with a view on what we believe is the right path forward in terms of technology, mobile-friendliness and UI/UX excellence.

What inspired you to attend it?

I love Amsterdam and I know that it is a hub for like-minded crypto-enthusiasts. Also, as a community manager I love to participate in initiatives that are inspired and driven by the community. The diversity of topics is also inspiring and insightful. I believe the event is a great opportunity to showcase our blockchain system and our vision for decentralized applications built on æternity (AKA æpps).

Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?

I personally love the Token Economy Medium blog and follow it closely. It is a great way to stay up to date with the most important developments in the blockchain sphere. In terms of influencers, I am fan of Chris Dixon, Naval Ravikant, Emin Gün Sirer, and Balaji S. Srinivasan.

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

The best place to get information about the project is our website –

For user-friendly updates, our blog is the best place –

For a more detailed insight into our technology, GitHub is the right place –

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

æternity’s team is one of the most technologically advanced in the world, featuring 6 PhDs and a number of world-class blockchain developers. We are building our system on Erlang, which we believe could be one of the best programming languages for distributed, high-bandwidth, peer-to-peer systems.
