LinkedIn Is Working To Improve Connections

This article originally appeared on 60 Second Social.

LinkedIn is known as the place to network with fellow professionals or look for a new job, however the career orientated social media platform is now working on new tools which will help users connect with their coworkers in the wake of Facebook unveiling their new ‘Facebook at Work’ platform.

A LinkedIn source told Mashable that the company is developing two new products to help bring employees and colleagues closer together. LinkedIn is looking for a way to improve connections between people in the office as opposed to connections outside the office. The new tools will make it easier to access employee information as well as share content relevant to your place of work.

The first feature is said to be piloting to customers at come point in the upcoming weeks and will allow users to send ‘InMail’ – LinkedIn’s version of email – to coworkers even if you are not already connected to them on the LinkedIn service. Users will be able to upload contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers, making it easier to access contact details.

The second feature is related to content sharing and will allow company administrators to send out information to groups of employees. Information about the company or job postings inside the company could be shared in the form of a blog style post with relevant staff groups.

LinkedIn is expecting to trial both of these services somewhere towards the end of the first quarter of this year. With Facebook at Work being unveiled last week, it is now time of LinkedIn to start coming up with ways to try keep users on board before Facebook launches their enterprise social media platform on a large scale later this year.
