Kinesis a UCD spin-out wins $4,500 in Tech-day startup competition

Kinesis Health Technologies, a University College Dublin (UCD) spin-out company has won the top prize of $4,500 of the Tech-day startup pitching Competition in the US.

It took place at the 21^stInternational Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG) World Congress which ended on Friday in San Francisco.

The focus of the TECH DAY entitled Technology and Ageing – Innovation for Independance and Innovation, the pitching competition to brought the worlds of academia and tech start-ups closer together. A total of 9 start-ups presented a compelling 5-minute pitch on their investment ready company to a panel of expert judges.

The pitch competition was hosted by AGE-WELL NCE and Aging 2.0, in partnership with the IAGG.

Over 6,000 experts in the field of ageing gathered together to share their knowledge on improving the health, welfare, and rights of a growing proportion of the world’s population.

Kinesis is a spin-out of a large ageing research centre, the Technology Research for Independent Living (TRIL) Centre at University College Dublin. They develop products to help prevent falls of older adults by using wearable sensor technologies. Kinesis had to pitch against 8 other startups from around the world.
