KBC and Mediaworks Pick up Grand Prix at the Media Awards 2018

Digital Campaign wins Grand Prix for the first time in the Media Awards.

KBC Bank Ireland was awarded six major awards at the Media Awards 2018 at a ceremony in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road on April 5th.

KBC picked up two gold awards for Best Use of Search and Best Media Idea, two silver awards for Best Collaboration for Digital & Online and Creativity in Media and a bronze award for the Best Creative Execution. KBC also walked away with the Grand Prix for the ‘Experience Your World’ campaign in partnership with Mediaworks, Daft.ie and Journal.ie. It was the first time in the award’s history that a digital campaign won the prestigious honour.

In September KBC  launched a new national brand advertising campaign ‘Experience the Bank of You’ as the bank began plans to double customer numbers in Ireland to 425,000 over the next three years, attracting digital savvy customers across key product areas including current accounts and mortgages.

‘Experience your World’ was a major technology partnership from KBC that allowed consumers to experience spaces around them in virtual reality at unprecedented scale. The partnership gives audiences the opportunity to explore iconic landmarks, homes and even city neighbourhoods in a new way, using the latest VR technology alongside exclusive data and content in what was a significant media first.

KBC Bank Ireland’s Director of Customer, Brand and Marketing, Aidan Power, said “The Media Awards recognise creativity amongst the nation’s finest media talent and we are delighted to receive these awards. These awards truly recognise the creative strategic thinking behind the KBC brand as we lead the way as a challenger brand in Ireland.

“Virtual reality continues to grow in popularity and is a revolutionary technology. As a digital-led customer-centric bank, KBC endeavours to provide our customers and the community with innovative technologies like this and we look forward to building on these award winning partnerships in 2018. It’s an exciting time for customers and staff as KBC embarks on the next phase of the Bank of You, targeting a doubling in customer numbers by 2020.”

The Media awards, now in their eighth year, showcase and recognise best practice in media buying, planning and research as well as the media brands and people who make up the industry.
