Jill Holtz is one of the founders of MyKidsTime @mykidstime and @Clearbookings. She is an experienced speaker and digital, social, marketing and branding strategist.
I’m really thrilled to be asked to speak at the upcoming Social Media Summit Ireland which takes place March 1st and 2nd at The Helix in Dublin. I’ll be talking about how we used content and social media to build a trusted online brand at Mykidstime and grew a social media community of over 500,000.
Just to whet your appetite, here are my Top 5 Tips for Social Media Success
#1. Tie all social media activity to business objectives
There’s no point in being on social media unless you tie your activity on there to your business objectives. Set out the main objectives for being on social and then measure on an ongoing basis.
#2. Plan all content in advance
There’s nothing worse than panicking about what you are going to post that day on social media. Plan all your content at least one month in advance allowing room for ad-hoc news and events.

#3. Have your risk plan set out
What are you going to do if you get negative feedback on social media? How will you respond? Who will respond? Write down your social risk plan and that will allow you to deal with any negative feedback quickly and easily.
#4. Remember it’s a two way conversation
Social media isn’t about you pushing your products or services, it’s about engaging with people in an ongoing conversation. Listen as well as “speak”.
#5. Set limits on your time on social media
Social media can be a complete time suck. Have a timer on your desk and stop when it goes off. You can always come back later if you have more time but don’t let it distract you from your main business.
