Irish E-Commerce Websites Produce a Landy Awards Double

Two Irish e-commerce websites won prestigious awards at the Search Engine Land Awards which were held in New York City. The ‘Landies’, as they are referred to in digital marketing circles, seek to reward the world’s best search campaigns, so for Irish companies to receive two awards amid such fierce competition is a remarkable achievement.

Donegal-based clothes retailer McElhinney’s became the first ever Irish company to win a Landy Award, taking home the prize for Best Overall SEM Initiative – Small Business. This represents another landmark for the rapidly growing family-run business, after McElhinney’s received a commendation at the Drum Search Awards which were held in London only five months ago.

Roisin Woods, e-Commerce & Marketing Manager at McElhinney’s remarked after learning of the award win:

“As a family owned independent business we must work harder, be more creative and innovative to compete with the larger global brands, proving with the right people anything is possible. We have an amazing team working instore and we are simply delighted with the nomination.”

Online department Littlewoods Ireland soon joined McIlhenney’s as Landy Award winners, picking up the prize for Best Integration of Search into Cross-Channel Marketing, an award which encompasses all aspects of digital marketing including social media and search. Morgan Stanley’s Super Bowl Campaign was among Littlewoods Ireland’s competition for this award.

Speaking at the awards ceremony, Rossa Butler, eCommerce and Marketing Manager for Littlewoods Ireland said:

“Customers today are no longer shopping on one device so ensuring they have a smooth and enjoyable customer experience whether it is on our mobile site, desktop or through our social and digital activity is paramount. We’ve been working closely with Wolfgang Digital to make it as easy as possible for our customers to find what they need, when they need it and this is something we’re really passionate about.”

The 2016 Landy Awards represented a double win for Dublin-based digital marketing firm Wolfgang Digital, who worked alongside both McElhinney’s and Littlewoods Ireland with regard to their award-winning campaigns.

Alan Coleman, Wolfgang Digital CEO, stated after the awards:

“We’re thrilled with the wins. At Wolfgang Digital we’re a little bit different. Our organisational structure is our own construct, we’ve created very different policies on recruitment and ongoing training than are typical in the industry, we also have our own philosophy on effective client-communications. We believe these differences yield better digital marketing. We’ve enjoyed a wild run of international award wins this year. I see it as a powerful validation of the Wolfgang approach to digital marketing that judging panels in Ireland, the UK, Europe and now the US rate our output as the best.”
