Ireland’s first multi-player Virtual Reality Experience to launch in March

Zero Latency, the global pioneer in warehouse scale, multiplayer Virtual Reality (VR) entertainment experiences, is coming to Dublin on March 4th, with pre-sale tickets available from today.

Using a combination of technology and proprietary software – which eliminates the motion sickness sometimes associated with VR – the up to eight player free-roam experience lets friends and family explore virtual worlds, whilst competing (and working together) to defeat the enemy.

With three games to choose from, players can see each other as full-motion avatars, and communicate through headsets, whilst exploring different areas in the virtual space.

On launch, Zero Latency Dublin will offer a heart racing Zombie attack mission, and family friendly galaxy space challenges for groups of eight or under. Kitted out with a VR headset, microphone and military style back pack, players are fully immersed in the 200 square metre virtual reality arena, and free to explore, untethered:

Having brought FootGolf (footee) to Dublin six years ago, Ronan Cunningham says he’s excited to now be introducing another new leisure concept to his home town: “My first experience of Zero Latency was on honeymoon with my wife in Tokyo! We’re always looking for new things to do, and as soon as we tried this, I knew instantly that I wanted to bring it to Dublin.”

Brian Vaughan, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Virtual Interaction Research Lab (VIRaL), at the Technical University Dublin (formerly Dublin Institute of Technology) says: “Even though VR has been around for many decades, developers, artists, designers, and creatives are only now beginning to understand its potential as an immersive, engaging, and truly wondrous technology.  It is no surprise that VR technology has been so readily embraced in Ireland: VR development in Ireland is very healthy, with a number of companies creating wonderful bespoke creations, coupled with a very active academic research community. As the social aspect of VR continues to develop, we will see VR move away from being a solitary experience to a more social and engaging experience.”

Zero Latency Dublin will open at 21 Maple Avenue, Sandyford, Co. Dublin, A94 N6V9, on March 4th. Tickets cost £39 for an hour long experience, including a briefing, and are available to buy here. Opening times are from 10:00 to 23:00 on Saturday and Sunday, and from 12:00 to 23:00 Wednesday to Friday.
