Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
Navada Studios is a digital media group based in UK & USA. We are at the forefront of changing the global media industry and how brands engage and empower their audiences. We do this by creating multi-format digital media, distributing content to millions online and powering everything with creative technology.
How are you different?
Our USP is that we combine all three elements to engage with millions of people, empower audiences to be part of the brand story, and give them tools to empower themselves. It’s the powerful combination that helps us stand out.
Why will you do well?
We never stop moving. In fact we are moving at lightning speed and try to stay ahead of trends. We were early to Influencer marketing, early to immersive content, early to blockchain market and we are always moving towards a set of end goals that are increasingly ambitious.
Where are you based?
We are HQ’d in Belfast with satellite offices in, Newcastle Upon Tyne, London, LA and Stockholm.
When was the company launched?
What have been your biggest wins to date?
Well we work with some major brands especially in Film & TV. So our work with Discovery Networks is going really well, helping shape and deliver new digital media products, our work with Sky is a real showcase success for us but also lots of our smaller clients in tech start ups and related is equally as rewarding. Our ability to work in USA, China and central Europe gives us confidence that we can grow the way we dream about.
Who are you trying to attract to your product?
Our major markets are Film & TV, blockchain and the wider Technology sector.
What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
Big lessons include, keeping the vision big enough to keep growing but look after today’s needs. Don’t try to change the world and everything in it, just be the best at one thing. Always surround yourself with people who are much better than you. Be prepared to fail over and over again, but never give up.
Tell us about your team?
We have expanded and contracted according to our workloads, and that’s a model we like. We have a core team of experts in creative, design, brand, digital marketing, creative tech, media production, commercial and operations. We chose people on character 90% skills 10% People can learn but a bad apple is hard to polish.
We also have a very large pool of international contractors across many skill that we engage regularly for particular projects – we want to stay relatively small.
What are your plans for the future?
Well we have just launched 50 of our own Digital Media brands so we are changing from a service model to a brand alignment commercial format, we want to engage 100 million audience globally, then move into our endgame of building something that plays at being the future of entertainment and media. But i cant tell you about at the moment
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
VR headsets, I love big screens, cameras like GoPros, and a lot of great apps on mobile – like Shazam.. simple powerful tools.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I need a projector pen 🙂 just present anywhere on the move… on a huge surface.. I wish that dictation tools were less clunky, to spew out ideas constantly then help me organise them.
I wish I had a tech tool to help me power nap.. I know people who can do it, but I can’t sadly.. so a lot of time is wasted on planes etc not sleeping..
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
Only that i hope that the internet gets more democratic and that the next iteration is more focused on humanism and human interaction and not robotic, data sucking 1984 style nihilism – but there’s always hope 🙂
