International film and technology forum Digital Biscuit 2016 to take place in Dublin

Ireland’s global international film and technology forum Digital Biscuit, an initiative of the Screen Director’s Guild of Ireland, will take place in March 2016, it was announced today. The three day event aims to foster innovation and collaboration in film and television production.

Now in its fourth year, Digital Biscuit will be held in Dublin from the 2^nd to the 4^th of March 2016. Last year over 4,000 people engaged in Digital Biscuit.

Speaking today Birch Hamilton Founder of Digital Biscuit said: “Digital Biscuit is a unique event that aims to bring together the leading lights of the film and technology industry to foster collaboration and we have welcomed some of the most extraordinary minds in the industry to Dublin in recent years.

“With the Web Summit’s recent announcement of its move, Digital Biscuit is well placed to attract an international audience to Dublin, contribute to building the Irish film industry and Ireland’s smart economy and to help maintain Ireland’s position as a leader in the tech and film industry globally. We’re really looking forward to hosting a global dialogue about the future innovation of the technology and entertainment industry here in Dublin in 2016.”

The Irish film and animation sector is growing and in this year alone, Ireland has co-produced eight international TV series. According to PwC’s Irish Entertainment & Media Outlook 2014-2018, the industry is forecast to grow by 2.3% (to €4.25 billion) by 2018. Additionally, the report indicates that the digital market will be boosted from 33% to 45% (€1.9 billion) by 2018. At this rate, the digital market is on track to outgrow the non-digital market by 2020.
