Inter Bar – Q&A with founder, Charles Foran

What is inter bar?

Inter-Bar is an international hub for pubs and bars around the world, it is free for any bar or pub to join and acts as a worldwide platform for all bars allowing the public to search for a bar near them (whether they are home or away)

What kind of information is available on the hub?

The site functions in two ways – to connect bars around the world and also as an event hub for clientele. Members of the public enter their email address and click the type of events they are interested in. They then receive email updates when the bar posts an event.

Bars are encouraged to enter full details beginning with their bar or pub name, address, google maps links, contact details, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, google+ and foursquare links. We then ask bars to provide a description of the bar in the “About” section”, add a rolling gallery of pictures, a full weeks entertainment “look ahead”, opening, closing & happy hour times.

Bars can also enter special additional information with pictures eg. sports particular to the bar, private function rooms, bar facilities, food & drinks menus.

Tell me more about the first option – linking the bar owners

We provide access to our “Bar Supplies” back end so that where possible we can bulk buy. The ability to connect bars is also useful to bar chains as the connected bars show up on each profile page. Furthermore with connected bars there is a private messaging portal built into the bars dashboard.

What plans have you for the future?

We are looking at a premium version of the bar profiles which we hope to roll out at the end of this year which will feature the ability to change the design of the profile page (Background, font, colours etc), include a booking/ reservations widget (Open table).

We also want to include a merchandising section enabling bars to sell branded items and the ability to submit multiple events

What is your connection with Irish Yapping?

Following on from our partnership agreement we are developing a widget from Irish Yapping which will tie into an App (Bar Yapping) for customers in multiple bars & pubs to chat to each other (Great for sporting events)
