Ingenio Learning, helping people to future proof their careers in tech, Rob Magee explains how

We caught up with Rob Magee, founder of Ingenio Learning to learn more about his desire to help people pivot into new careers and assist them in getting hired by tech and software companies.

Rob has already been successful as an entrepreneur and founder, and he is the CEO and co-founder of Ingenio, one of Ireland’s leading tech and software recruiters. He has also been an investor in a number of successful technology businesses. It was based on these experiences that he saw the need, and opportunity, to help people who want to work in the tech space.

Ingenio Learning with Rob Magee

In 2020 the job market has fragmented, and as Rob explained. “People are looking to leave or pivot from industries like hospitality, retail and travel in huge numbers”. He further elaborates that “technology and software is the sector where most people want to go. Thousands of university graduates are finishing their education with very limited options as graduate programs have been slashed.

Technology and software businesses continue to grow as we have seen from recent jobs announcements from TikTok, Qualcomm and Diligent”. As is always the case, this disruption also provides opportunities for those able to move fastest to adapt and change.

Ingenio Learning is an online course platform that provides video tutorials, worksheets and exercises to help a candidates be as well prepared as possible.  Areas covered include; career coaching, understanding the tech industry, types of jobs, industry lingo, refining your profile and preparing for application, interview and getting hired.

Rob further explains. “With the support of Dublin City LEO we have worked with local production firm The Reelists to record, produce and edit the course. We’ve invested in an LMS called Teachable that hosts the course and provides its ecommerce capability. We have worked with Derek Quinlan at Hubspot to build a marketing-led B2C funnel.”

So far Ingenio have had success in attracting students from all over the world, though their primary target markets are Ireland and the UK. Magee comments “we have subscriptions from China, Brazil, India and the US to date. Since we launched in September, we’ve hired four very talented guys who are working in marketing and sales roles, and we expect to grow the team to 15 people within 12 months as we develop and add to our course content.” They will also be launching a weekly podcast using Anchor next week to add to the webinar channel.

Everyone has more time right now, especially with the current lockdowns. People are reassessing everything from where they live, what job they do, how they do it and who they do it for. For this reasojn Ingenio offers a particular opportunity. “This specialisation is why people are signing up for our course for, we expect this demand to continue as the technology businesses sector evolves and grows.”
