IDI (Institute of Designers Ireland) has teamed up with AWARE to launch Mind Over Matter on Wednesday, October 11th  in the Morrison Hotel from 19.00-21.30pm.

MIND OVER MATTER – is a national day of design which aims to highlight mental health in the design community with all proceeds going to AWARE.

  • 1 in 10 People are affected by depression in Ireland.
  • 25% of creatives are more likely to suffer from a mental health issue in their lifetime.
  • AWARE offers support, education and information services nationwide

Designer, comedian and musician Paddy Cullivan will host the event. Special guests include leading Irish designers Diarmuid Gavin, Tom Moore, Roisin Lafferty, Steve Simpson and mental health expert Brid O’Meara from Aware. They will all feature on two panel talks about creative mental health.

How will it work?

Mind Over Matter is a day of reaching out, creating opportunity, sharing skills and experience while raising money for a great cause.

IDI and AWARE want to create a stronger design community in Ireland by connecting fellow designers and promoting the value of design to the local business community.

From the 11th of October, businesses, entrepreneurs and startups will have the opportunity to book a one hour consultation for €60 with product, graphic and digital designers or brand strategists at 9 locations around Ireland (Belfast, Galway, Tullamore, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kilkenny, Dundalk, Dublin). All proceeds raised through the launch night and consultations will go to AWARE.

‘I have been afforded the opportunity through IDI to concentrate on a subject that has touched so many of us. Together, we hope to change the conversation around mental health in the design community and raise vital funds for Aware.’ Kim Mackenzie-Doyle, President, IDI.

Tickets for the launch on October 11th are now available on Eventbrite.ie and cost €11.
