How to build a solid IoT ecosystem, Nancy Shemwell, IoT Community

Interview with Nancy Shemwell, Chief Operating Officer of IoT Community, the largest global IoT industry thought leader association. A three-time Chief Executive Officer, she recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of entegra technologies, inc. With a 20-year track record of driving high performance transformational global organizations, Ms. Shemwell has been Ranked #93 in ExecRank’s Top CSO Rankings” from 15,000 Chief Sales Officers and C-Level executives in the United States.

1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

The IoT Community continues to grow (now stands at 23k+ IoT Practitioner members) and further deliver our open, inclusive and no barrier to entry message – seeking to become the ultimate source of IoT truth, thought leadership and best practices. We are presently working on Building out IoT Centers of Excellence across vertical and industry application thematic areas of focus, see attached image.

How was the last year, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

Last year was our best year yet, 3rd year of our growth plan, everything is presently going according to that plan.

What are your plans for the future?

We are seeking to expand our global footprint, we will be hosting our IoT Community’s 3rd annual IoT Slam Live conference – the trilogy, in RTP North Carolina USA June 20-21, We will be broadcasting this virtually globally for free, so invite anyone interested in participating to visit live.iotslam.com for more details and to register. We will also be spinning up additional CoE’s across our other areas of focus.

What will you be talking about at this event?

We (the IoT Community) are discussing how to build a solid IoT ecosystem approach, working to bring the community together (industry, accademia, standards bodies, other industry groups) to curate the best (not the most) IoT thought leadership and best practices. We gave a couple of examples of how we are doing this across Security, Privacy & trust, as well as Healthcare space (vertical / industry application)

What inspired you to attend it?

IEEE is our latest industry association partner, so we were invited to present. In Looking at the agenda it was clear that there was an opportunity to position the IoT Community as a natural extension to the themes of the event.

Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?

Without being biased, we operate the iotpractitioner.com content portal, we provide free, objective, informative and educational materials for all to consume. Naturally we are looking to this as our primary vehicle.

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

Several ways https://iotcommunity.net / https://iotslam.com / https://iotpractitioner.com
