How to adapt and change quickly, Fintech insights with Stephen Sheehan, Digital State, #Fintech20Ireland

By @SimonCocking great interview with Stephen Sheehan CEO and Founder of Digital State, an Irish based fintech advisory firm specializing in capital markets, asset management and banking set up in 2017. Stephen will be speaking at our event on the panel Growing your team : finding and retaining the right people for your Fintech teamTo attend the event itself October 26th, at Moores Auditorium, UCD book tickets here.

How was the last year, what worked well, what didn’t move as quickly as you would have liked?

Digital State was created in March 2017 to cater for companies looking to understand changing digital landscape and to adapt innovative and disruptive solutions across capital markets, asset management and banking. Personally I’d like to see the large institutions view the ongoing change as an opportunity to foster new growth strategies.

What are your plans for the future?

The plan is to grow the advisory side of the business through customer acquisition and strategic partnerships. I want to be able to deliver a turnkey operation for companies operating within Fintech and innovation.

What will you be talking about at this event?

Seeing the potential for change across the industry and ensuring companies understand the need to adapt and to do so quickly.

What inspired you to attend it?

I am enthused by innovation and the changing face of financial services. I remember physically settling security transactions when I started out, how that landscape has changed yet still offers so much more potential. Look at the institutional stock loan and repo for example, so much room for transparency via disruption and transformation.

Which influencers and websites do you follow to keep up to date with the latest developments?

Of course I follow Irishtechnews.ie. I love the weekend edition of the FT, its really diverse and most of it is quality reading. I also like Dublin Globe and McKinsey Research.

How can people find out more about what you are working on?

They can find out more about the company on www.digitalstate.ie, they can also follow me on @stesheehan or via linkedin.com/in/stephen-sheehan

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

I think the open banking model that comes on board via PSD2 will evolve over the coming years and will be truly transformational. I personally am looking forward to seeing its effects across financial services.
