Hosho Announces First Ever Blockchain Security Event, HoshoCon

When and where is it on?

HoshoCon will be taking place October 9-11, 2018 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

How many years has it been going?

This is the first year that HoshoCon is happening, and the first conference of its kind.

What was the inspiration to start it?

With blockchain technologies, the repercussions of a hack are much greater than in traditional technology, not to mention the regulatory or legal implications that are emerging every day. HoshoCon will raise awareness and encourage executives to take the necessary security measures to protect their products and services from hacks and better manage their risks as the technology continues to flourish.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

In addition to keynote speakers and presentations by industry-leading experts, HoshoCon will have a 25,000 sq. ft. exhibition space, and a dedicated developer-focused track including panels and workshops.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

The conference will have a hackathon facilitated by multiple winners and organizers of elite DEF CON competitions, as well as a mentorship program aimed at connecting mentors and attendees for one-on-one sessions, all followed by nightly entertainment.

Who will be speaking?

  • Ryan Clarke, Consultant, Department of Energy
  • Meltem Demirors, Chief Strategy Officer, CoinShares
  • Mikko Ohtamaa, Chief Technology Officer, TokenMarket
  • Sean Palka, Senior Lead Technologist, Booz Allen Hamilton
  • Michael Perkin, CISO, ShapeShift
  • Anand Prakash, Founder, AppSecure
  • Alena Vranova, Co-founder, Satoshi Labs
  • David Wachsman, Founder and CEO, Wachsman
  • Neil Wyler, Information Security Engineer, RSA

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

The event will provide attendees with the opportunity to take part in a curated roster of educational presentations and workshops as well as the chance to network with the key companies and individuals in cybersecurity. To make the most out of HoshoCon, attendees should check out the agenda on the website to decide which panels will be most useful for security measures specific to the needs in their industry.
