HiiKER Introduces AI-Powered TrailGPT to give hikers more confidence when planning their hikes

HiiKER, the Irish-developed and owned hiking app, is excited to announce the launch of a new feature that promises to revolutionize the way hikers plan and prepare for their outdoor adventures. The latest release includes an AI-powered feature designed to answer any questions users may have about trails or parks within the app.

Often, when we are trying to plan a hike, there are so many unknowns that it can inhibit us from heading out on a hike. From what kind of footwear to wear, weather conditions, terrain and nearby amenities preparing for a hike can be slightly overwhelming.

HiiKER TrailGPT is aimed at giving users (particularly new hikers) as much information as they need to feel confident ahead of their hike. The feature also personalises the experience by gathering historical recordings and activity data to answer questions that are tailored to the user.

A New Level of Outdoor Preparedness

Planning a hike involves much more than just choosing a trail. Hikers often need to consider weather conditions, elevation changes, available amenities, and the appropriate gear. The new AI feature on HiiKER addresses these needs by providing instant, accurate answers to any questions about trails, parks, and hiking conditions. Simply ask TrailGPT, and you’ll receive real-time information tailored to your specific hiking plans.

“We are constantly trying to explore the boundaries between technology and the outdoors.”. While there is great excitement around the launch of HiiKER’s TrailGPT, HiiKER urges caution when using TrailGPT and for people to use their best judgment. “This is a transformative moment in technology, and HiiKER is leading the way. Our hope is that, with safe use, TrailGPT can help people to explore the outdoors with more confidence.”

Making Hiking accessible to all

HiiKER has always been about building confidence in the outdoors, and this new feature takes that mission to the next level. In 2023, HiiKER disrupted the navigation app industry by making all trails available offline for free, thus enabling more users to get out on trail safely. The addition of this feature enhances the discovery and planning phase of the user’s journey.

By allowing users to ask questions and receive instant responses, TrailGPT removes the uncertainty and hesitation that can come with planning a hike. This tool is especially valuable for those new to hiking, ensuring they have all the information they need to get started safely.

Seamless Integration for a User-Friendly Experience

TrailGPT is seamlessly integrated into the existing HiiKER platform. Users can simply select one of the FAQs for a specific trail or ask it any question they might have about the trail, such as; how has the weather affected the trail recently? Is this trail suitable for children? Are there any toilets located near the trail?

TrailGPT leverages advanced AI technology to deliver answers that are not only accurate but also personalized based on the user’s location, preferences, and hiking experience.
