Resiliency During a Pandemic: Data Renewable Energy and Job Creation and the importance of Green Data
2020 has been a year of change. We’ve locked down, opened up, physically distanced and zoomed our way through it. While we’ve fundamentally changed how we work, technology has been adopted at rates previously unimagined and data processing and storage have exploded.
On September 8th, Host in Ireland are bringing together industry leaders in digitisation, data, energy & talent over two webinars to discuss how the data centre and the ecosystem of products and services it creates has been affected by these changes.
The first webinar ‘Green Data Factories and New Economic Opportunities’ will look at despite manufacturing declining in Ireland over the last 30 years, one type of factory is growing and changing how we live, work and play. Data centres are the digital factories of today, with a long history in Ireland but few understand their importance and impact on our economy, environment and our lives.
Industry commentators George Kamiya, Emerging Technologies Analyst with the International Energy Agency and Garry Connolly, President of Host in Ireland will discuss the bits and bytes and give a unique insight into the true value of this topical industry. The session will be moderated by Carol Tallon, CEO of Property District
The second webinar ‘Bucking the Trend: Job Creation During a Pandemic’ will examine the myth that data centres don’t create many jobs. With Ireland now home to the largest cluster of data centres in Europe, what does this mean for Irish jobs?
HR and recruitment experts Hannah Ormondroyd, Head of People Data Centre Solutions, CBRE, Adrian McGennis, CEO, Sigmar along with Michelle Wallace, Head of Operations, Host in Ireland will examine what is the job outlook for the data ecosystem in Ireland. They will also discuss what are the key skills the industry is looking for and how candidates and companies can find the perfect match.
