Google Maps Update

Google Maps for iPhone today received its first major update to 1.1.

This update now means you can easily search for nearby restaurants, bars, attractions, petrol stations etc by simply tapping in the search bar and choosing one of the icons.

The app now also lets you search within your Google Contacts, if of course you use Google as your main address book!

The update also makes it a lot easier to choose between kilometres or miles for your preferred distance units. Simply tap the ‘person’ icon to the right of the search bar, tap the gear icon and then Distance units.

I use this app almost every weekend on my travels and so far it hasn’t left me high and dry, unlike Apples own Maps app but also my Garmin Nuvi!!
