Offline access to Gmail has been mooted for some time now but Google have finally added the capability.
You will need to download an App from the Chrome Store (here) to be able to use it but you will also now be able to access Google Docs and Calendar offline.
If you are someone who often finds themselves lacking a data connection, this is sure to be of great benefit.
Offline editing is still not available but is to be added in the future.
