In addition to the Nexus 6 announcement, Google and HTC have launched the 8.9″ Nexus 9 tablet. Encased in a brushed aluminium frame, the 436 gram tablet comes with a 4:3 ration display. Staying with the display, the Nexus 9 packs a 2048×1536, 2K resolution screen to keep your eyes happy

Dual front facing speakers feature a dedicated smart amp and HTC BoomSound to enable stereo sound from the front of the device.

Some of the other specs include a Nvidia Tegra K1 64-bit dual-core processor with a Keppler GPU and an 8MP camera around the back. The Nexus 9 will also be the first tablet to run Android 5.0, Lollipop.

Commenting on the launch, Peter Chou CEO of HTC said, “the Nexus 9 is a great example of what can be achieved when two companies, united in their passion for innovative technology, come together to create a product with the user experience at the very centre of the design process

HTC’s unrivalled design language combines with the very latest software advancements to deliver a premium tablet, inside and out. We are thrilled to be able to bring this product to market.” he continued.

The Nexus 9 comes in 16GB, 32GB and 32GB LTE models and will be available for worldwide pre-sales from the Google Play Store beginning October 17 with shipping and availability in retail outlets beginning November 3.
