A scam using Google ads to lure people into ringing premium rate phone numbers believing they were contacting RTÉ and ESB customer contact centres has resulted in both companies issuing warnings! Google has been advised of the problem by RTÉ and ESB and the companies have issued statements “This may potentially result in high phone charges for anyone who uses these numbers”
The Gardaí, National Consumer Agency and ComReg, the communications watchdog, have also been informed
