Good employee management is rare, PeopleWave’s use of the blockchain can change this, Stephen Walker

What is your background briefly?

I began my career in Chartered Accountancy but soon realised I needed something more dynamic. After some years running my own business, I became an early adopter of the Internet in the early 1990s, with a focus on IT Sales and Executive Management. I steadily gained knowledge and experience about social media and go to market strategies which directed me toward assisting IT startups in recent years.

Does it seem like a logical background to what you do now?

Definitely. Apart from many years’ experience with the Internet in its various incarnations, I have the core business background knowledge that facilitates growth.

1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

I help startups understand their go to market value proposition and enable them to move to a sustainable business model under which their return on investment is maximised. Too many IT startups focus on their technology rather than on the business problems which their technology addresses and the value gained therefrom. For many technology-based Founders, it is difficult for them to detach from their technical view in order for them to understand how to monetise their expertise in the most efficient manner.

Why did you get involved with this ICO?

I joined Peoplewave as a seed investor, having known Damien the CEO for the last decade. However, I soon realised the wider potential, especially for HR on the blockchain. With my sales and business background I therefore came on board as one of the Peoplewave core team assisting in the ICO, and driving our push into Australia and New Zealand.  HR Tech and more specifically finding and retaining talent, is an ever-present challenge. Our current solutions, our move to the blockchain, and our ICO makes my role one of the most exciting positions I have held.

Why do you think it is such a powerful idea?

Employee churn is an omnipresent organisational problem which constrains company’s growth, curbs efficiency and productivity at the broader economic level, and negatively impacts employees career aspirations. At the core level, good employee management is rare, and lacks fairness overall. Peoplewave’s solutions and blockchain proposition will help alleviate these challenges. Need I say more.

How can people find out more about 1. The ICO 2. you & your work?

Details on the Peoplewave ICO can be found at www.peoplewaveico.io where you can download the White Paper. A short history of my work and interests can be found at https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephenwalkeraustralia/.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

My role in Peoplewave is as much about loving what I do as it is about paying the bills. I am in an innovative and dynamic space, applying emerging technology to pressing business and personal challenges; does it get much better than that?

How can people contact you & learn more about you?

I am always open to sharing my experience and knowledge, especially to younger audiences. Feel free to contact me at steve@peoplewave.co or connect with me on LinkedIn https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephenwalkeraustralia/.
