Irish Developers GIRT Mobile have launched an App for the upcoming Volvo Ocean Race event in Galway. GIRT are a mobile technologies company based in Galway and we have featured some of their work on ITN before.

The App provides info on all of the race events, schedules, boat positions and radio coverage from Clare FM.

The App also provides information on local activities around Galway during the event plus maps, top ten- hotels, B&B’s, hostels, restaurants, pubs, entertainment spots, and sightseeing recommendations.

The App is available for iOS, Android & Windows Phone 7. The WP7 version, which was developed in collaboration with Galway & Mayo Institute of Technology student Conor Molloy, is available in the Windows Marketplace now.

The iOS and Android versions are available in their respective stores now.

providing all the latest information from the bay.

schedule linked into your own personal calendar (you can even use the app to set your alarm for
those must see events!), maps, top ten- hotels, B&B’s, hostels, restaurants, pubs, entertainment
spots, and sightseeing recommendations. The app will allow the user to keep track of the boat
positions as they race towards Galway. The app even has its own radio built in, courtesy of Clare FM,
so you can get event updates and listen to some great tunes as the boats cruise past.
