When and where is it on?
It’ll be online, using the Hopin platform to allow for the most interactivity and engagement. It will be May 28 at 3-6pm Our Summer Time (BST).
How many years has it been going?
This is the inaugural event, but we already have two more events lined up afterwards that we’ll be announcing at the event, one of which will be a Masterclass in July.
What was the inspiration to start it?
The original idea was born for a conference in Britain on podcasting that was going to be global in scope and scale because we felt that most podcast conferences were very US-centric. When the pandemic struck, we pivoted and decided that we should create an event that was online, helping to unite us all around the world and to help podcaster voices be better heard. Thus was born this online festival.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
We want this to be an inspiring, highly curated and interactive event. As such, we’ve only got top notch guests, covering a diverse area of topics like: personal and corporate branding via audio, audio narrative and storytelling, podcast trends, running a portfolio of shows and podcast business models. Beyond the main stage chats, we’ll also have networking events, opportunities to ask questions directly to some of the speakers as well as a lounge for hanging out with other podcast enthusiasts from around the world.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
There will be a series of booths where sponsors and speakers alike will provide additional offers and materials, including one-on-one visits.
Who will be speaking?
Kara Swisher – the renowned NY Times journalist and podcaster (Pivot cohosted with Scott Galloway, Recode, both are part of Vox)
James Cridland – the radio and podcasting futurologist and Editor at Podnews
Bradley Davis – CEO/Founder of Podchaser
Jason Phipps – BBC Commissioning Editor for BBC Sounds & Podcasts
Dr Siobhan McHugh – multiple award-winning podcast producer including The Last Voyage of the PongS u; founder of RadioDoc Review
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Allow for a bit of serendipity and look to take advantage of the online networking opportunities. In advance, follow @podfestlive for insights and scoops!

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?
How has podcasting production and consumption changed during this pandemic?
Podcasting production has surged during this pandemic as people and brands have naturally turned to different digital means of communicating. On the consumption side, after an initial drop overall, there’s been a resurgence of podcasting listening, with quite a shift in podcast content, time of consumption and devices. I wrote up this article on that very topic:
