When is it on?

The inaugural Money20/20 Asia will take place 13th – 15th March 2018 at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore – it is set to become the definitive industry event in the Asia Pacific region, inspiring and enabling innovators to create the future of money. Money20/20 Asia will provide the platform for pan-Asian and global companies to connect and explore the unique opportunities fuelling the fast expansion of the Asia Pacific payments and financial services landscape.

What was the inspiration to start it?

Money20/20 was founded in the US in 2011 by two serial entrepreneurs and is now recognised as the largest FinTech event series in the world (now in its 6th year the most recent Money20/20 US had over 11,000 attendees of which 1 in 3 were C-Level). In the first of our international expansions, we successfully launched into the European market in early 2016, with 3,700 attendees and 400+ speakers including 500 CEOs, from 1,500 companies and 70 countries. Following our successful launch into Europe, our clients and partners began coming to us asking when we would expand to the APAC market and were so excited at the prospect of us going to market in the region – the APAC launch has really been an organic process very much led by industry need.

Research shows that in 2015, FinTech investment in Asia quadrupled, reaching $4.5B – more than the previous four years’ investment combined. Rising regional access to smartphone connectivity is growing at a startling rate which in turn is opening up greater access to financial services for many. Combine this with the region being identified as the world’s largest B2C e-commerce market and the sheer size of the increasingly tech savvy ‘middle class’ population, it is clear that the time is right for Money20/20 to launch in Asia.

Why did you chose Singapore for the venue?

We selected Singapore as host city for the first ever Money20/20 event in the APAC region because of its status as a global travel hub and excellent infrastructure which is crucial for us as it allows us to deliver a world class event at a standard now synonymous with the Money20/20 brand. The City State’s thriving FinTech ecosystem as well as the Singaporean government’s innovative approach to FinTech regulation and global partnerships were also key factors.
