After teasing Facebook Messenger at the Apple Watch event in September, Facebook has finally delivered the app to the Apple Watch at last. Facebook quietly rolled out the update to the Messenger app last week and it also includes support for iOS 9 features such as universal search and multitasking on iPad.
The watch version of the Messenger app is supported on watchOS2, the latest version of Apple’s watch software so if you haven’t downloaded that yet and you are craving Facebook Messenger on your wrist then now is the time. There is actually quite a lot of Messenger’s functionality squeezed into the watch app too.
You can choose from a list of preset responses, send your location, like a reply, post stickers or record a voice message. You can also check out photos, videos and voice messages you receive right on the Apple Watch.

The app supports Facebook’s stickers, animated stickers and GIFs however they will only appear as static when viewed on the watch app.
It is Facebook’s second watch app to be released, the first one being Instagram which was available on launch to Apple Watch users. Messenger will be a welcome addition to the watch app family for users as 700 million users are now on the platform. Facebook have also teased a version of the main Facebook app for the Apple Watch way back in March, but such an app is yet to appear.
