Europe’s fastest growing Product Conference UXDX APA sets sights on Sydney

UXDX, the fastest-growing conference on Product in Europe, has announced the launch of its inaugural UXDX APAC conference, taking place on March 4th – 5th 2021.

Since 2016, the Irish owned UXDX has organised 5 conferences in Dublin and 30 global community events, primarily in Europe and recently branching out to the US. Over 15,000 people have taken part in UXDX events focussing on global and local player’s experiences, successes and failures, to help companies improve processes to accelerate product success.

Digital transformation initiatives are the top priority for APAC organisations which led founders of UXDX, Rory and Catherine Madden, to establish an Asia-pacific UXDX conference whose mission is to tackle the digital transformation failure rate.

The UXDX APAC 2021 conference will deliver on-demand online content through keynote talks, workshops and panel discussions from global industry leaders. In 2022, UXDX APAC will take place physically in Sydney.

UXDX is also revealing its first 5 confirmed speakers lined up for the APAC conference on March 4-5, 2021:

  • Anthea Blanas, Customer Experience Design Lead, Westpac – Westpac is Australia’s first bank and oldest company, one of four major banking organisations in Australia and one of the largest banks in New Zealand.

  • Kevin Lee, Chief Product Officer (Korea), eBay – Kevin Lee is responsible for the overall vision and strategy of products and services for Korea’s largest e-commerce company

  • Dan Harper, Senior Engineering Manager, Xero – Xero, a cloud-based accounting software platform for small and medium-sized businesses, is one of New Zealand’s startup success stories

  • Randy Hunt, Head of Design, Grab – Hunt leads a team of designers, writers, engineers, and researchers who create Southeast Asia’s Super App, Grab

  • Timo Hilhorst, Head of Product, SEEK – SEEK is Australia’s number one employment marketplace.

Rory Madden, co-founder of UXDX said, “Having consulted to companies like Stockland, Westpac and also in Government, I’ve seen the challenges Australian companies face and the opportunities to gain – tech is becoming central to the business and you can no longer afford the inefficiencies of building products using traditional project style delivery.  We’re keen to help companies all across the APAC region as they make the shift from projects to product teams.”

Lyn Lewis-Smith, Chief Executive Officer, BESydney says, “Team Sydney is very excited to be working with UXDX to re-imagine the inaugural 2021 UXDX APAC conference in a virtual environment from Sydney, Australia. Sydney’s tech community is one of the fastest-growing on the planet, and this immersive event will be a great “teaser” to your real-life experience of our inspirational city of opportunity when we welcome the UXDX global community in person in 2022. “

Catherine Madden, co-founder of UXDX said, “Some conferences are looking to replicate an offline conference, but online. We think this is missing a huge opportunity for improvement. We’ve looked at what online can offer that physical events can’t, to give attendees more control of learning and career advancement.

“We will release Netflix-style talks each night for attendees to watch in their own time. This allows participants to get much more involved in the interactive speaker sessions, where they can answer those burning questions, and the workshops, where they can hone their skills. We are facilitating easier networking, through curated Birds of a Feather sessions and relevant 1-on-1’s to take away the challenge of finding people with similar interests.”

The original UXDX event, now in its 5th year, gathers over 2,000 CTOs, CIOs, product managers, UX researchers, designers and developers to share best practices on how teams adopt and change to improve product delivery in organisations.

Unlike other product conferences, the content is inspired by the ‘UXDX Framework’ and the three themes of efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability in product development. Discussions and workshops will focus on:

  • Successful Case Studies: UXDX asks teams who are shifting to product teams with “Mission Command” management to share the challenges along the journey to help people learn from those who have actioned and succeeded.

  • Cross functionality: Product teams need to be cross functional. Rather than asking people to learn in silos UXDX brings full teams together to learn about all of the steps involved in end-to-end product delivery. This is known as developing T-shaped skills (deep knowledge in one domain but good knowledge across domains).

  • Addressing Digital Transformation Failure: UXDX helps teams to follow through with modernising their product development. 88% of attendees are motivated but the vast majority (84%) recognise the challenge in making change happen. Up to 70% of companies are failing in their Digital transformation efforts. UXDX is committed to making it easier.

  • Startups – Build the Right Product, Faster: Over 90% of startups fail – but not because of funding. The most successful VC’s always say their best, unicorn, investments have been the ones based on the team, and not the idea. UXDX helps teams to become high-performing.
