Dyson Purifier Cool Autoreact reviewed

This is a nice looking piece of kit. Though it is also large, pricy and, to some degree noisy too. At the same time we are all now more aware that we are what we breathe, so taking out small, invisible pollutants and potentially toxic or other bad to breathe items is not a bad idea. It does stand on a small, compact base, but it does require some vertical space too, so you should think through how and where you might want to position it within your home.

From the images that they shared with us in terms of what the purifiers take out after a year’s worth of use it is clear that these devices are working, and taking plenty out of the air around us. It is also a clear reminder that your purifier is only going to be as effective as the frequency at which you switch these out too.

This does illustrate, much like printers that there is clearly going to be an important secondary market in selling the filters to keep the device working at an optimal level. There is a display to demonstrate what is going on, which is good, though it seems strange perhaps to not have an app where you can monitor, view and play around with the data and information that it is generating and collating. There are not lots of buttons and controls on the actual purifier itself, as they are intended to be controlled by the remote control.

On one hand you can see why the designer might have liked this idea, aiming to be sleek, minimal, Apple like. We get this, but what happens if there are kids around, or just absent minded adults who forget where they put that remote – anyone spent time looking for their TV remote? You can see where we are going with this line of thought, and that is even before you run out of batteries. It would be more appealing perhaps to have both physical and remote options?

In terms of better air quality, this is not cheap, but it does do a good job, and it is a smart combination to also deliver cooling air too. There will be a lot of fans for this product and generally you can be fairly confident that as it is a Dyson it should be fairly robust and long lived too.
