Dub Web Fest Ireland’s first web series festival returns next week

The Dub Web Fest, Ireland’s first and only web series festival returns next week to Templebar, taking place in Filmbase from November 18th – 20th . The festival aims to unite digital media and tech worlds by providing a platform for original web series and digital content, as TV and Film production professionals gather in Dublin for this unique annual event.

The eclectic programme of events brings together web series from all over the globe including USA, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, Norway and Estonia plus workshops and panels with actors, directors and scriptwriters.

Two new categories have been added this year: Best Script and Best Project in Development in addition to categories in Drama/Mystery/Thriller, Sci-fi/Fantasy/Horror, Comedy, LGBT series, Music Videos, Animation andDocumentary.  Entries are judged by a panel of media and filmmaking experts including Edwina Forkin (Zanzibar Films) who recently produced award winning Irish feature “Sanctuary” and BAFTA nominated Director – Jack Jewers (Trailermade Films).

The Dub West Fest kicks off its Opening Night at 6pm on Friday 18thNovember with a drinks reception, followed by the Actors Panel featuring Eddie Jackson (Game of Thrones) and then at 8pm there will be a screening block of web series including the 2nd season of Irish comedy series The Hurler, which has world premiere on the night. Also screening is Cirklon 3, Aphex Twins first music video since 1999 directed by the very talentedRyan Wyer,a 12 year old from Rush, Co.Fingal who will attend on the night.

Genius sound designers behind Lenny Abrahamson’s film “Room”, Niall Brady and Steve Fanagan will discuss and examine how sound can be vital in to visual storytelling using this Oscar winning film as a case study. Horror fans can see festival premiere of first ever Dracula web series, Mina’s Diary and for the Francophiles, there is a dedicated screening of web series from France – ‘French Touch’.
