We look at the Doro Leva L20. See more about the phone on their website here.
This is a tough, robust phone. If you drop it, short of putting it under an elephants foot and asking it to stamp it, you should be okay. Screens are not likely to break easily, nor lose touch or sensitivity options too quickly. The sound is loud, and the screen is big. Yes we can use reading glasses too as we approach our slightly diminished reading ability, but even so, this device is aiming to head off those issues in the first place.
Our team testers, several decades younger than others among us, felt it was a fun, and intuitive device to use. In previous rounds of testing the phones, one of the challenges has been to then get it into the hands of the octogenarians and other related decades. This time around maybe the use-cases also work if you expand them to include robust scenarios themselves, rather than older users themselves. In this context the phone could be very useful, perhaps as a spare, backup phone, or as an alternate for days, like being up on a roof, or a mountain, where you value robustness, audio quality, and overall durability.
The brand and the products themselves remain an interesting one to watch and our team is growing in interest and positive feelings towards their devices. Sometimes you don’t need to be holding or using a smarter, more sleek but more fragile device, when, the job you are trying to do needs an effective spanner/tool rather than a delicate, and easily broken top of the line device. It will be interesting to see where Doro goes, and how their products evolve.
More about the Doro range
Doro, the European technology leader for seniors, today announces the launch of three new 4G feature phones, the Doro Leva L10, Doro Leva L20 and Doro Leva L30. The devices are rolling out in select retailers nationwide, starting November.

With loud and clear sound quality powered by HD voice, the devices ensure crystal-clear communication. The ergonomic design includes a soft-feel rear case with a textured surface, reducing the risk of accidental drops, and is splashproof (IP54), adding durability to its list of features.
They come in a variety of designs: the Leva L10 in a classic candy bar style, and the Leva L20 and Leva L30 in clamshell formats.
