Dell has announced that it will hold a fundraising event called Dressing for Success on 17th September in Cork International Hotel.
The proceeds will go to Dress for Success Cork, a not-for-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Since starting operations in 1997, Dress for Success has helped more than 850,000 women worldwide work towards self-sufficiency. Since starting in Cork two years ago, the charity has supported hundreds of women in entering the workforce.
Speaking ahead of the event, Marie Moynihan, Chief Diversity Officer and Global Vice President of Talent at Dell, said:
“We all know how much first impressions count. How we dress immediately tells us something about a person – their level of professionalism, their pride in themselves to mention but a few. Feeling good about ourselves and feeling ‘the part’ gives us all confidence, especially in an interview situation.
At Dell we want to attract a wide range of diverse people to our workforce. It gives us the best chance of developing and selling products and services to our highly diverse customer base. We also want to encourage people who have the right skills and attitude back to work. We know it takes confidence to take that first step, and that is why we are delighted to support this fundraiser for Dress for Success in Cork, because their mission aligns with ours.”
The fundraiser will see volunteers receive makeovers, while attendees will have a chance to win great spot prizes.
Carmel O’Keeffe, Founder of Dress for Success Cork, thanked Dell for organising the fundraiser.
“We’re looking forward to an enjoyable evening filled with fun, some useful professional fashion tips from experts, and lots of great prizes. The team at Dell has driven this fundraiser forward and we are grateful for all the support. The funds raised will go towards a fantastic cause and will help us work towards our ultimate goal of achieving gender equality in the workplace,” she said.
This fundraising event organised by Dell in aid of Dress for Success Cork is being run in conjunction with Cork International Hotel, Mahon Point Shopping Centre and the CWIT member companies in Cork.
Tickets can be purchased for the event, at a cost of €20 from Dell reception (021 2064000). Tickets are also available from Cork International Hotel, Dress for Success (Oliver Plunkett Street), Mahon Point Shopping Centre and event partners.
