Dell Technologies employees graduate from inaugural TRANSFORM Programme

Employees from Dell Technologies Ireland in Limerick, Dublin and Cork have virtually graduated from the inaugural TRANSFORM programme, a first-of-its-kind course in Ireland. The TRANSFORM programme is designed to help participants develop new skills required to fully compete in the workforce of the future and in the field of emerging technologies.

Born from a collaboration between Dell Technologies Ireland and Technology Ireland Software Skillnet, with support from the IDA, and Skillnet Ireland, the TRANSFORM programme enables participants to better understand the role of emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Data Science, Cloud and Blockchain. It also helps participants understand fully how these technologies can be leveraged to enhance the modern workforce and help companies to digitally transform.

Just under 300 employees from Dell Technologies have completed the programme and these graduates are now equipped with skills required for the future of work in the digital era. The course consists of two variants, the ’Practitioner Programme’, for staff from any business area, and the ‘Leader Programme’, for those in a leadership or influencer role.

The work-based delivery of the programme has led to the Dell Technologies Ireland team members developing advanced professional digital literacy skills. The team are now able to bring these skills into their roles at the company and, working with the latest technology, be equipped with a better understanding of how they can be leveraged fully. This week’s virtual graduation marks the first group to complete the course. The next class of graduates will complete the programme in the autumn.

Commenting on the successful completion of the programme by Dell Technologies team members, Sean O’Reilly, EMEA VP of Logistics and Limerick Site Leader at Dell Technologies Ireland said: “Congratulations to all the Dell Technologies team members graduating today. Despite the recent restrictions we have all had to navigate, you have risen to the challenge and completed this unique programme.

Through the knowledge and skills gained in the TRANSFORM programme, our Dell Technologies team in Ireland will be well-positioned to not only understand the trends in technological change but to also be at the forefront of harnessing emerging technologies to transform businesses and organisations globally. I look forward to seeing you bring these learnings into your current roles.”

Paul Healy, Chief Executive, Skillnet Ireland said ‘The TRANSFORM Programme is an excellent example of effective collaboration between Skillnet Ireland, the IDA and industry to provide leading-edge ICT talent and to harness the new technologies which will drive future innovation. We are working together to ensure that the Irish labour market has the skills to grasp the many opportunities presented by emerging technologies, and to support the recovery and growth of our economy’.

Maire Hunt, Network Director, Technology Ireland Software Skillnet said: “The TRANSFORM programme enables leaders and staff to understand future technologies and enhance those uniquely human skills which play a critical role in any business. With organisations developing the capacity to embed innovation aligned to accelerate digital transformation, the new digital workplace will be about being digital rather than doing digital”.

In congratulating the graduates Leo Clancy, Head of Technology, Consumer and Business, IDA Ireland, said: “IDA is delighted to partner with Dell and the Technology Ireland Software Skillnet on this innovative and important workplace transformation programme.

Lifelong learning and continuous skills acquisition are increasingly important for both the performance of multinational companies and the prospects of their employees. The learning blend of cutting-edge digital technologies with social and leadership skills achieved by those graduating today is exactly what’s needed for tomorrow’s workplace”

The TRANSFORM Programme is a part-time course and takes four months to complete. It’s accredited by Technological University Dublin. The next course is due is to run in the autumn timeframe. For more information about the TRANSFORM Programme, visit here https://www.softwareskillnet.ie.
