In its quest to help organisations realize their vision for digital transformation, Dell Technologies has today revealed that it has partnered with Munster Rugby to transform the team’s performance. By empowering the club to harness the power of data through reliable desktops and laptops, Dell Technologies has delivered strong business outcomes that position Munster Rugby for future success.
Founded in 1879, Munster Rugby has spent many years at the top of European rugby by fostering a culture of passion, ambition and excellence. After a challenging period, both on and off the field, the club is once more in the ascendency having embraced IT and workforce transformation.
As outdated PCs began to hinder their performance, the club engaged with local Dell Technologies partner Action Point to help make their digital transformation ambitions a reality. Through the deployment of Dell Latitude 3000 and 5000 series laptops and Dell OptiPlex 3010 and 3020 model desktops, Munster Rugby employees have been empowered to rejuvenate the club’s commercial performance.
By empowering the organisation to leverage its data for better business insights, the club has recently revamped its ticketing strategy resulting in a 30% increase in the number of season ticket sales and a significant rise in the number of families attending games.
The transformational effect of Munster’s partnership with Dell Technologies extended beyond the club’s data centre, enabling always-on connectivity for employees from any location. With a large mobile workforce, Munster Rugby staff have witnessed a large improvement in performance and productivity.
Enda Lynch, Head of Commercial and Marketing at Munster Rugby, said: “Munster Rugby is being transformed through our partnership with Dell Technologies – both in the way our team trains and plays matches, and the way the club runs its commercial activities. Their latest technology now acts as the 16th man, helping to drive our team forward.
“For data is helping to fuel our performance. We witnessed a €2.05m rise in ticket sales by being able to capitalise on greater data analytics and better targeting of customers. By making it most financially viable for supporters to bring their children to matches, we have seen the number of young people attending games jump from 500 to up to 5,000.
“Our journey of digital transformation with Dell Technologies has also empowered our fluid workforce to be more productive while on the move. As part of one of the greatest teams in the world, there is too much work to be done to be held back by poor technology. With only a small number of staff working from fixed laptops, Dell Latitudes has provided the reliability, connectivity and flexibility for us all to be on-the-go pros.”
In announcing the transformational partnership, Mark Hopkins, General Manager, Dell Technologies Ireland, said: “When we first met with Munster Rugby, they wanted to increase success on and off the field. Their old and outdated devices that become barriers to digital transformation both for the business and for employees.
“Through our local partner, Dell Technologies has helped Munster Rugby to roll out our range of innovative PCs. Embracing the latest technology has given their largely mobile workforce reliable access to data they need from multiple locations.
“Digital transformation has also paid commercial dividends for the club. By harnessing the power of data to make their ticketing offering more attractive for their supporters to enjoy their team in action. This has resulted in boosting its financial performance – boosting its capacity to back the winning team.”
