Dell creates 50 jobs in a New Commerce Services R&D Centre in Ireland

Dell today announced that Dublin has been selected as the location for a new Commerce Services R&D Centre.
The R&D work done at the Centre will lead to increased functionality for Dell.com improving the customer experience for people and businesses Dell engages with daily. The Dublin based R&D team will deliver new services and functionality that will be added to Dell’s online platform.

The announcement was welcomed in Dublin today by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, who visited the Dell facility for the announcement.

The company launched a recruitment drive today for more than 50 highly skilled software engineers, technical programme managers and test engineers to help roll out the first phase of the new R&D centre.

In Dublin to oversee the launch, Dell’s Chief Information Officer, Paul Walsh said: “As an ecommerce pioneer and one of the world’s largest online retailers, Dell is uniquely positioned to understand the quickly evolving demands of this space and the customers it serves. We’re committed to rapid innovation that will ensure that Dell.com is a resource for customers and partners of all sizes for years to come.”

Today’s announcement by Dell is a great example of this trend – here is one of the biggest companies in the world, deciding to locate a high-end commercial R&D centre in Dublin, with the creation of more than 50 high-end engineering jobs. Dell’s online assets are built, designed and operated by Dell Commerce Services. The Commerce Services R&D Centre will play a critical role in designing and building the platform upon which current and future services will be delivered.
