Students Impress at Day 2 of the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition 2022

On Day 2 of the 58th BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) over 90 judges busily continued their virtual assessments with students across the country, as we move closer to the announcement of BT Young Scientist & Technologist(s) 2022.

Students from across the island of Ireland have continued to pitch their projects and research to a panel of judges from all areas of science and technology today.

Yesterday saw audiences tune in from around the world to check out the student’s projects for themselves and to attend one of the many exciting events taking place this year.

Commenting on the calibre of projects seen thus far, Professor John O’Halloran, President of University College Cork and Chair of the Biological & Ecological Individual Panel said: “Each year students around Ireland showcase incredible scientific innovation and creativity through their BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition projects.

“We as judges are grateful for the time and effort that has been put into each project and the impressive presentation skills students have been demonstrating through their virtual judging sessions at the BTYSTE 2022.”

Audiences were treated to an exciting variety of special acts and events on Day 2 of the BTYSTE 2022 including:

— An insight into the development journey of vaccines from molecule to medicine
— Interviews with BTYSTE 2020 winners Cormac Harris and Alan O’Sullivan
— A trip to the metaverse and a discussion on the future of augmented reality
— Learning the science behind musical inspiration and production with The Kabin in the Woods
— This afternoon, business audiences logged in to attend Nextipedia, BT Ireland’s business and innovation -symposium with Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and work futurist Dominic Price
