DataSolutions Host Charity Football Event in Dublin

When and where is it on?

DataSolutions’ inaugural Ultimate IT Channel Charity Football Tournament will take place from 17:00 – 20:00 on Tuesday, 29th May, in Astro Park Tallaght, Greenhills Road, Dublin 24. All proceeds raised from the five-a-side tournament will be donated to Dublin Simon Community.

How many years has it been going?

This is the first time that the event has been run, but if it is a success we hope to make it an annual affair!

What was the inspiration to start it?

DataSolutions was seeking a way to bring together IT industry peers for networking and some fun, while also raising some money for a good cause. One of the team had the great idea to run a charity football tournament and the event grew from there.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Good fun, some competition and the opportunity to support a good cause – what more could you ask for?! The competition will also be followed by a barbecue and refreshments, so if you intend to take part make sure to stick around afterwards. There will be some great networking opportunities too.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Teams on the day will have the chance to compete for the prestigious Irish IT Channel Champions Cup and the title of 2018 IT Channel Football Champions. The winning team will even have their name engraved on the trophy, which they will hold on to with pride until the 2019 competition.

What’s more, anyone taking part is directly helping to raise funds to assist Dublin Simon Community in its ongoing mission to end homelessness. Dublin Simon Community currently provides a range of services including housing, prevention and addiction treatment, emergency response and other targeted interventions to over 5,100 individuals and families in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare and Meath who experience – or are at risk of – homelessness on an annual basis.

Who will be speaking?

As this is a charity event there are no guest speakers – people will be expected to let their football skills do the talking for them! Jokes aside, the event will provide a great opportunity to get to know others from within the Irish IT industry.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Simply to shed the suits and put on the boots! We’re a competitive bunch in the IT industry so sign up and give it your best but most of all, have fun.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

If you’d like to register a team visit https://bit.ly/2FClj3n and simply fill in the form. The registration fee is €100 and all proceeds will be donated to Dublin Simon Community.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

If you’re looking to support a good cause, are up for a bit of fun with your peers in the industry and have a group of aspiring footballers in the office, then don’t delay – register your team and we’ll see you on the 29th of May!
